ABOUT US
Yearlings at 505 Diane has dedicated her life to the horse. She has been involved with horses ever since she can remember. She grew up on a horse, riding and showing. In 1990, she graduated from Michigan State University's School of Agricultural Technology with an emphasis on Horse Management. While at M.S.U., she took an interest in breeding horses. She was able to work at the University's Horse Barn and assist instructors with reproduction labs. In 1989, M.S.U.'s Horse Judging Team won Reserve Champion at the Arabian Nationals in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Diane finished within the top ten individuals. Her focus then shifted to Thoroughbreds when she served her internship with Dr. Helga Duffy at RedBob Farms in Oxford, Michigan. She later served as Broodmare Manager for 5 years. RedBob Farms stood many stallions, including Private Thoughts and Clear Course. RedBob also had a complete training center and track. Their small crew did everything from unloading hay wagons to holding mares in the breeding shed. Diane credit's Dr. Duffy for teaching her how to read a horse; to know what they are going to do before they do it. "Her practical horsemanship and veterinary techniques are the foundation of my success," she said of her former mentor. Diane was also lucky enough to be able to study horsemanship under Hall of Famer, Major Robert Borg. Major Borg coached and rode on the U.S. dressage team in three Olympic Games and is synonymous with the origins of dressage in the United States.
In 1995, Diane had the opportunity to relocate to Lexington, Kentucky, "Horse Capital of the World". She started out showing horses at the Keeneland September Sale, she was then hired by 505 Farm. 505 Farm was a training and sales prep facility at the time. Within the next year the farm acquired the adjacent property and expanded into a full service breeding, training and sales prep operation. 505 also had large operations in California and Argentina. The owner decided to send some of his top mares to the Lexington farm to be bred to Kentucky stallions.
As Broodmare Manager of 505, Diane was able to implement the breeding program from the ground up. The first van load from California included mares like Larceny, Borodislew and Morpheme. "There's really no other place on earth to experience that kind of quality and quantity in the horse industry. I helped raise the great race mare Manistique and had mares like Borodislew, Radu Cool, Astaire Step and Six Crowns in my nursery." One of Radu Cool's foals by A.P. Indy went on to bring $2.25 million at the Keeneland Sale. 505 also had enough room in their nursery to sales prep many weanlings and broodmares for both Keeneland and Fasig-Tipton sales. The unique design of 505's nursery also provided space for many layups.
She now
owns and operates, together with her family, Bieser Creek Cattle, LLC, in Glade Park,
Colorado. Their operation runs about 650 mother cows over about 130,000 majestic acres.
They also recently purchased
2V Outfitters, Ltd., an elk and deer
outfitting operation. Being
on the ranch also provides Sam and Diane the opportunity to ride many horses.
In 2003, the pair formed Branham Quarter Horses and purchased the Quarter Horse
stallion Doubley Magic. "We live on Red Mesa Ranch with our two children Ben and Emily. We are so lucky to be living this ranching lifestyle."☺
